Why We Designed the Christmas and Easter Countdowns

At Tiny 3D Temples, my official role is leading marketing. But the truth is, I’m never too far from product development. One of the things I love most about working alongside Brad—our founder, head of operations, and the creative genius behind all of our designs—is how an idea can move from a simple conversation into a piece of art that families will treasure for years.

Several years ago, I remember saying to Brad, “You know what the temple needs?” We were working on our Temple Music Lights, and I suggested that these temple statues needed to be more than just something to look at—they needed to be interactive. They should glow like real temples do at night, almost like a nightlight, capturing a child’s fascination. And they needed to have music, like a music box, so they would become not just a decoration but a conversation piece for parents and children about what the temple really represents: the Lord’s house.

Brad took that idea and brought it to life in a way I could never have imagined.

And now, years later, we’ve realized the same principle applies to Christmas and Easter. These holidays aren’t just about seasonal décor—they are about Christ. Families need something beautiful and interactive that draws children in, sparks curiosity, and makes teaching the true meaning of the holidays natural and memorable.

That’s why Brad has been chiseling away at this idea for years, and it’s finally ready: our Christmas Countdown and Easter Crèche Countdown.

More Than Decoration

Brad designed these to be stunning displays—layered wood, softly lit with LED lights, complete with a built-in music box. They look incredible on a mantle, in an entryway, or anywhere guests will see them. But what excites me most is that they aren’t just meant to sit there. They’re built to start conversations.

When a grandparent moves the dial with their grandchild, or when a child asks, “What does this part mean?”, the countdown becomes a teaching moment. It’s a way to pause and talk about why we celebrate in the first place.

The Stories They Tell

The Christmas Countdown shows the Nativity in detail: shepherds watching their flocks, wise men following the star, Mary and Joseph with the infant Jesus. At night, the Star of Bethlehem illuminates above the city, glowing with hope.

The Easter Crèche Countdown traces the story of Holy Week: Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, Gethsemane, Christ carrying the cross, Calvary, the Empty Tomb—and finally, when the lights turn on, the Resurrected Savior is revealed in glory.

A Teaching Tradition

That’s what these countdowns are really about. They are designed for interaction. Each day, children can help turn the dial, parents can share the story of the scene, and families can reflect together. They’re beautiful enough to be heirlooms but practical enough to become a yearly tradition.

I’ve seen firsthand how Brad can take a spark of an idea and turn it into something truly meaningful. These countdowns are proof of that. They’re not just for parents with young children—they’re for grandparents who want something special to share when the grandkids visit, and for anyone who wants their home to reflect the sacred meaning of Christmas and Easter.

We can’t wait to show you these in action very soon. They’ll be available shortly, and I believe they’ll become a family favorite year after year.
